Curing DEI and Cultural Issues in the Modern Workplace with Psychological Safety. Presented by WeLearn
July 13, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm CDT
Silence kills business. Silence kills relationships. Silence is a leadership killer. As culture is a mirror of leadership, then silence can ruin culture. It is critically important for people to feel like they have a voice and can speak up about difficult matters without fear of retribution. It’s just as important for people to feel comfortable being true authentic selves. That is psychological safety. Psychological safety is where everyone in a team leaves nothing on the table. Where there is vulnerability, candor, and we don’t hold back important information. Where people feel a sense of inclusiveness, empathy, and fairness. If we do it right, it is the simplest and purest way to build a people-first culture with low attrition levels and high employee engagement. But it’s not that easy.
Why is it not easy? The brain has 165 biases that most of us have no idea exist that inhibit our ability to be vulnerable, empathetic, and inclusive. These are the leadership qualities needed to build psychological safety.
Key Takeaways:
- What psychological safety is and why it matters to your organization
- The new DEI equation
- A simple leadership model to use to start your psychological safety journey
A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.
